I really wanted to like this stainless steamer because my wife was elated upon opening the package. However, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so to speak, and in the case of this steamer it has a few remarkable flaws.First, the bottom pan is not thick enough to withstand an open flame once you forget to refill the pan with water. When that happens the flame will burn through the metal. Trust me, something like this has happened to me with my stainless warmers using sterno. Once the entire water evaporates it only takes a few minutes for the flame to eat through the metal. I wish they had made the bottom part thicker which would also have given the base more weight and more stability even after stacking up all the steamer layers.The other issue is the glass lid which is also quite thin and, therefore, lightweight. So everytime my wife steams dimsum or vegetables the lid would jiggle incessantly because of the pressure, even though the lid has a pressure release hole. This only means that the lid is not heavy enough to keep a good enough seal around the rim of the topmost layer of the steamer. Because of this a lot of steam escapes and every several minutes you would have to check the bottom pan to make sure it doesn't run out of water.In fairness, the product looks good and durable. Notwithstanding, given the important features mentioned above that were overlooked by the manufacturer this steamer is not a keeper. I will be returning the item to the seller for a full refund. Hopefully, the seller will not give me a hard time with the return process.
